De kleur duidt op de samenstelling en heeft niets met merk of fabrikant te maken.
G11 (M97B44-A) groen of blauw MEG
G11 (M97B44-D) paars of oranje MEG
G11 (M97B51-A1) geel MPG
G12 (OAT) roze MEG
G12+ (HOAT) roze/rood MEG

Het wordt niet geadviseerd de verschillende types te mengen en G11 (bij)mengen met G12 resuleert zelfs in een bruinachtige drap die niets meer met koelvloeistof te maken heeft.
G12 (bij)mengen met G11 zou kunnen, maar is absoluut niet aan te raden.
G12+ is silicaatvrij en kan dus, in tegenstelling tot G11, niet aangevuld worden met gedemineraliseerd water.
G12 is organisch en kan in oudere motoren leiden tot aantasting van afdichtingen en/of rubbers.
Als een koelsysteem, dat voorheen gevuld is geweest met een andere koelvloeistof, afgevuld wordt met G12+ dient het koelsysteem 'geflushed' te worden met een citroenzuur oplossing.
Dat flushen dient eveneens te gebeuren als er, b.v. bij een pechgeval, gewoon (drink)water is bijgevuld.
De door Daimler geadviseerde blauwe M97B44 vloeistof voor onze motoren heeft de aanduiding MB325.0 op de verpakking.
