1.000.000 op de teller

Drukte op het parkeerterrein bij het hoofdkantoor vanmorgen. Daar vertrok onder begeleiding van een klassieke en een moderne Wegenwachtauto de 70-jarige Alexander van den Berg om de 1.000.000ste kilometer op de teller van zijn Mercedes W123 uit 1977 te zetten. Collega Frank Buma doet voor de Kampioen verslag van dit bijzondere moment. Ook een cameraploeg van Hart van Nederland was van de partij.
De heer Van den Berg uit Den Haag kocht zijn Mercedes nieuw in 1977. De auto, die inmiddels dus ruim 35 jaar oud is, gebruikt hij nog iedere dag. In de Kampioen verscheen begin vorig jaar een artikel over auto’s met een hoge kilometerstand. Toen had hij al 973.701 kilometer op de teller, vandaag heeft hij dus de 1.000.000 overschreden.
