Het is vandaag precies 150 jaar geleden dat de vader van de Diesel motor is geboren.

De stoommachine, die door de dieselmotor vrijwel verdwenen is, heeft nog wel wraak genomen op Rudolf. Op de wikipedia-pagina lees ik:

"Op 30 september 1913 verdween Diesel onder verdachte omstandigheden van het stoomschip de "Dresden" dat van Antwerpen naar Harwich voer."

Ja,

Later werd zijn lichaam door een ander schip uit zee opgevist, werden zijn persoonlijke spullen van hem ingenomen en is zijn lichaam weer overboord gekieperd.....

Een mooie staatsbegrafenis met standbeeld had hem beter recht gedaan

de arme man zou z'n eigen dertig ronddraaien in z'n graf met de huidige dieselprijzen...
